Milwaukee is moving up its curfew for teenagers following violence on the city’s north side after the police-involved shooting of a black man.

Mr Barrett warned parents and guardians that police will be strictly enforcing the city’s 10pm curfew for teenagers. The spokesman said that authorities continued to seek suspects in the shooting, which happened at about 11 p.m. “Members of a neighborhood, who depend upon police protection, were fighting the police and burning businesses, which the community depends upon, as well as looting these businesses, which showed individuals not protesting, but stealing”. An 18-year-old was shot near the intersection.

A crowd of protesters skirmished with police Saturday night in a Milwaukee neighborhood where an officer shot and killed a man after a traffic stop and foot chase earlier in the day, setting fire to a police vehicle and torching a gas station. It’s in the custody of the state Justice Department, which is leading the investigation into the shooting.

One person was shot and a police officer was hurt after a rock hit a police vehicle’s windshield.

Several police officers have been targeted and shot dead across the nation in recent weeks – including five in Dallas – following an outcry over the deaths of unarmed African Americans at the hands of police.

Another officer’s “riot helmet received a graze wound to the back of it, probably from a firearm”, Flynn said, adding that the officer had not suffered serious injuries.

Walker said he plans to continue those discussions once safety is restored.

“There were groups of young people in particular, who were traveling in the streets”, Mayor Tom Barrett told a news conference Monday. Police arrested 17 people who were charged with crimes ranging from disorderly conduct to burglary. He pointed out that the city saw disruptions on Sunday night, after his race had been publicized, though the intensity was less than the previous night.

Asked about the violence, Neal said: “People stuck together and they are trying to stand up”, for their rights.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” Monday that “the growth of the welfare state” encourages the destructive behavior seen on Saturday and Sunday nights.

He says the police department’s ShotSpotter technology detected 30 gunshots in the neighborhood overnight.

The 24-year-old officer who shot the man has been placed on administrative duty.

The problems began Saturday afternoon after a black police officer shot and killed a black man after a traffic stop.

“That officer had to make a split-second decision when the person confronted him with a handgun”, Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief Bill Jessup said.

Milwaukee has become the latest American city to be gripped by violence over the past two years in response to fatal police confrontations with black men.
