Five people were killed in clashes with security forces in Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday, taking the toll in the state to 65.
Four people were killed in Raipanthan village, while another man was killed in Larkipora village in south Kashmir after the clashes between pro-separatist protesters and police. The condition of two of these men has been stated to be critical.
Meanwhile, curfew remained in force in entire Srinagar district and Anantnag town while restrictions were in place in rest of the Valley as normal life remained paralysed for the 39th consecutive day.
The three other who were injured in the firing, succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, added the police official.
This comes after a 20-year-old youth identified as Yaseer Ahmed of S.D.colony of Batmaloo locality in Srinagar was killed on Monday when a mob indulged in intense stone pelting.
Police said curfew and restrictions would continue in all the 10 districts of the valley. Internet and mobile services across the valley remained suspended as part of the security drill ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
