A newly-appointed young minister in Pakistan’s Sindh provincial government has thrown a freaky challenge at his Punjab province counterparts of beating him in doing push-ups, drawing rebuke from them.

The dare went viral within minutes, attracting taunts and ridicule from politicians and commentators for the 29-year-old Mohammad Bux Mahar, who joined the provincial cabinet just over a week ago.
In a video that is making rounds on social media, the young and energetic sports minister can be seen performing 50 push-ups.
Responding to the challenge, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry said he was ready to accept the fitness challenge given by the Sindh Sport’s minister, however, added “A battle between the ministers can not be proven by physical fitness but rather by serving the masses”.
Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali also accepted the challenge and counter challenged him to lift a weight of 100Kgs. “Let’s have an arm-wrestling (match)”.
Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar said that the Sindh ministers are physically more fit than Punjab’s ministers.

When a few journalists raised the issue before Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, he said push-ups were a healthy exercise, but the actual performance would be reflected through hard work in the department.
