Skype For Windows Phone Ends ‘Early 2017’
Amazon has another forgotten app for Windows users – it’s little used Amazon shopping app for Windows PCs and tablets.

Amazon’s app for Windows phones, aptly named Amazon App, is set to be discontinued today; however, back when we first reported that the company was planning on killing the app, we noted that it appeared that the Amazon app for Windows PCs was to survive the Windows app exodus.
By early 2017, the company says it hopes to have moved Skype calling to the cloud. Skype Preview for Windows 10 was built on the new Universal app platform and replaced Skype for Windows and Messaging + Skype on Windows, being included in the list of apps available in Windows 10 Anniversary Update. “The NYTimes website includes the same content as the app, plus interactive articles, expanded video features and richer article content”. Unfortunately, due to several issues with the app, and not enough demand of the app from our members, we have made a decision to no longer offer an app on the Windows Phone platform.
But now it seems like Windows Store apps are still failing to gain traction, despite the fact that Microsoft is pushing so hard for their adoption.
There’s no word yet on whether or not MyFitnessPal intends to start up once again on Windows 10 Mobile, but given the complaint of “not enough demand of the app” it probably isn’t all that likely.

While it was known that Windows Phone support for Skype was coming to an end, few actually expected the service to be actually switched off. Still, for the moment, it could be another sign that the universal app strategy isn’t exactly working.
