New Poll Shows Clinton Leading Trump by 30 Percent in NY

The latest USA Today/Rock the Vote poll released on Sunday found that while 56 per cent of voters under 35 say they would vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, one in five in this age group support Trump, Xinhua news agency reported.

Trump also chose to withhold his endorsement of Ryan before the Wisconsin primary, which ignited the ire of Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

In the last week, reports from Politico and The New York Times, both respected news outlets, broke stories that detailed dissension behind the scenes at the Trump campaign.

Trump, Clinton battle it out in 2016’s new social media landscape. “Donald Trump has been in the news a lot over these past few weeks”, Greenberg said, “and not necessarily for good things”. The Journal said Trump mistakenly believes his rowdy rallies will morph into votes and he can get away with relying on social media instead of spending money to compete in battleground states.

“There is an adage in politics: Don’t get in the way of a train wreck”, said Democratic strategist Bob Shrum, a top campaign aide to presidential candidates Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004.

Clinton beat Trump in a two-way race 57%-27%, the latest Siena Research Institute poll found.

While 60 percent of NY voters view Clinton as dishonest, they view her as more honest and trustworthy than Trump by 16 percentage points.

Greenberg said when you drill down into the numbers, Trump’s biggest weakness is among Republican voters.

Voters find themselves agreeing more with Clinton than Trump on key issues.

For example, Trump gave an economic speech on Monday that was meant to help his campaign regain momentum, but it was quickly eclipsed by the fallout over his remarks on gun rights activists.

Sanford, R-S.C., wrote in an op-ed in the New York Times that he intends to support Trump: “However, my ability to continue to do so will in part be driven by whether Mr. Trump keeps his word that he will release his tax records”.

Last week, 50 former Republican national security officials, including a former Central Intelligance Agency (CIA) director, called Mr Trump unqualified to lead and said he would be “the most reckless president in American history”.

Clinton’s use of a private email server instead of the State Department server during her tenure there has many chapters.

Greenberg, with Siena, says even with the enormous lead of Hillary Clinton in the Presidential race, voters have a long tradition in NY of splitting the ticket when it comes to their local lawmakers.
