Clinton pitches economics proposals, blasts Trump in MI speech
The campaign also released the last ten years of tax returns filed by Kaine and his wife.

In 2014 their total tax bill was just under $10 million, so you could buy a pretty nice oceanfront mansion with the amount Bill and Hillary Clinton did NOT have to pay in taxes this year.
“Here’s a pretty incredible fact: there is a non-zero chance that Donald Trump isn’t paying *any* taxes”, Ms Clinton tweeted, minutes after releasing her own returns.
Trump had told The Associated Press in May that he would not release his returns before the November 8 elections.
“Right now the American economy is only working for the rigged system in Washington and on Wall Street, yet Hillary Clinton is running to keep things as they are”, said Dan Kowalski, deputy national policy director for Trump, in a statement. He has said he will release them once the audit is over.
When presidential candidates share their tax returns with American voters – as they have done without exception since the 1970s, when Gerald Ford declined to do so – it offers the public a glimpse into how the candidates earn their money, whether and how they donate it, and what their tax rates are, according to CNN.
Seeking to inoculate himself from negative press, Donald Trump is wielding his most aggressive and focused attack on the media to date.
The campaign reported the Clintons’ effective tax rate as 34%, which includes the more than $300,000 the couple paid in self-employment taxes, which are payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare. Obama repeatedly used Romney’s business dealings against him and seized upon the former MA governor’s reluctance to release certain tax records.
Hillary Clinton gave dozens of paid speeches in 2013, 2014 and 2015 but gave this up before launching her candidacy for the White House in April 2015.
On Thursday, Trump’s special counsel, Michael Cohen, told CNN he would not allow Trump to release them until the audits are complete.
Mrs Clinton’s return was filed jointly with her husband former President Bill Clinton. The Clintons’ combined earnings from speeches past year clocked in at $5.5 million – well shy of the $9 million Bill Clinton earned in 2007 alone. His office did not immediately respond to a question about whether he still has a relationship with GEMS.
In her speech, Clinton also reiterated her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a planned free-trade deal that she supported when she was President Barack Obama’s secretary of state.
The couple gave $1 million to their private Clinton Family Foundation, which is different than the Clinton Foundation that has been the subject of scrutiny.
