Yankees’ Aaron Judge shows off power with encore Day 2 homer

According to MLB Pipeline’s Twitter Account, Aaron Judge will follow (bat eighth) the aforementioned Tyler Austin in the NY Yankees’ starting line-up. The 101-meter drive down the right-field line landed in the first row over the short porch, about 0.9 meters fair.

“I was ecstatic on deck”.

Judge, wearing No. 99, drove a 1-and-2 changeup 446 feet off the railing above a sports bar in center field and into the netting above Monument Park. Matt Duffy also added an RBI single for Tampa Bay.

New York’s four-game winning streak was stopped and the Yankees (60-57) dropped 4 1/2 games back for the AL’s second wild card, failing in their attempt to move five games over.500 for the first time this season.

It was the second time players homered in the first at-bat of their major league debuts in the same game but they were opponents: Brooklyn’s Earnie Koy and Philadelphia’s Heinie Mueller did it in the first inning at the Baker Bowl in Philadelphia on April 19, 1938.

Five players had two hits and it was the 26 and under club: Austin, Judge, Castro, Hicks, and Gregorius.

Girardi said Judge, a burly 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds, will be the regular right fielder.

Nationals release former closer Papelbon: The Washington Nationals have cut reliever Jonathan Papelbon, who rarely pitched after the NL East leaders recently traded for new closer Mark Melancon.

Following Alex Rodriguez emotional final game, the Yankees filled his roster spot by promoting prospect Aaron Judge from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

As the Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline approached, the Bronx Bombers traded away two-thirds of their three-headed bullpen monster (Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs and Andrew Miller to the Indians); starting pitcher Ivan Nova to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later, notwithstanding their most productive hitter (Carlos Beltran to the Rangers).

Eickhoff (8-12) went 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs and 10 hits while striking out three and walking two.

2015 was overall a rough season, as his wRC+ dipped below 133 for the first time since Judge went pro as he finished slightly below league average with a 98. Chicago sends John Lackey (9-7, 3.56 ERA) to the mound in an attempt to make amends to the Wrigley faithful that threw back Cardinals homers Saturday. In that one, he logged two hits with a solo homer and two runs.

“They were out there”.

Brett Anderson, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers: You’ll want to jump right on the Anderson train today if you want to get him before his start against the Pirates. Just like Austin, Judge would hit a home run.

The 24-year-old Austin is hitting.323 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs in 56 games for the RailRiders.

HARPER HAS MRI ON NECK: Harper has gotten an MRI for a neck injury that has sidelined the reigning NL MVP this week. Now every game isn’t going to be like Saturdays game, there will be just as many downs as ups. “He feels good about it”.
