In December 2011, MI adopted a law requiring schools to create and implement anti-bullying policies.
Would you like to review the complete Wallethub study? The state with the least bullying problems is MA, with a total score of 23.33 percent. Specifically, Massachusetts was found to have safer schools and higher test scores on both college entrance exams and reading and math assessments.
According to the report, MA students specifically are less likely to be bullied on school property, be involved in a physical fight at school and miss school out of fear of being bullied.
MI students, in particular, may have it tougher than those in other states. “So it would seem that, regardless of not having those types of laws bullying is not really that big of a problem there”.
Among key findings, MI was found to rank third for highest percentage (25%) of high school students bullied on school property.
Not coincidentally, Louisiana was found to have the most unsafe schools on WalletHub’s earlier ranking of states’ school systems.
MI ranked 3rd for having the highest percentage of high school students bullied on school property and 5th for highest percentage of high school students bullied online.

“With back-to-school season upon us and more than 160,000 children missing school every day in the USA out of fear of being bullied, the personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis” on the topic, spokeswoman Diana Popa said.
