A derailed streetcar backed up traffic in downtown Toronto Tuesday morning.

This blocked the eastbound streetcar lane and proved even more troublesome than usual, considering the 501 route is using part of the 504 line at the moment. The Queen streetcars had already been diverting onto King St. from Shaw St.to Spadina Ave. due to ongoing watermain construction on Queen St.
A closer look at the TTC streetcar derailment at King and Bathurst streets on August 16, 2016.
“You can imagine the pressure from pushing [the streetcar] and hitting debris [left by the morning rainfall] on the tracks all happening at the same time”, he said.
An old streetcar was towing the new streetcar on King, when it turned onto Bathurst.
As a result, the 511 Bathurst streetcar is diverting both ways via Exhibition Loop, Queens Quay, Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street. When attempting to make the turn onto Bathurst St., the new streetcar’s front wheels derailed, he wrote.

There are 14 shuttle buses operating right now and the TTC is hoping to clear the tracks in the next hour.
