Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for West Cajon Valley from California 2 to 15, as well as Lytle Creek, forest officials said.

The fire shut down both directions of Interstate 15 from Oak Hill Road to Kenwood Avenue, Caltrans reported. A cargo train nearby was also reported to be evacuated and left stopped on the tracks.

A Red Cross emergency shelter has been established for evacuees at the Jessie Turner Community Center, 15556 Summit Ave., Fontana.

The so-called Blue Cut fire, named because it started near a road called Blue Cut and Kenwood Avenue erupted before 11 a.m. Winds are blowing to the north, pushing smoke into the High Desert.

Firefighters from the San Bernardino National Forest are assisting with the blaze and water drops are being made. “We should have a lot of resources on scene”.

Two San Bernardino fire crews needed to abandon their engines, according to KCBS.
