This Half-Life 3 Ad Is Not Even A Little Funny
This ad is now running at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. It features the number “3” in the ad. Walking up to the convention center, there is a large Half-Life 3 poster hanging along with the other games. We’ll update if Spieletipps or Giga Games takes us inside the joke. It says, “Redakteure, die es damals gespielt haben”, which translates to “Editors, who played it back then”. Before you sound the air horn, this isn’t what you think. While the poster appears between banners for various confirmed AAA titles, the text below reads as follows: “Half-Life: 3 editors who played it back then”.

Memes began popping up about the mythical nature of Half-Life 3. I post it here partially because someone is inevitably going to Photoshop out the colon and try to convince you on Facebook that Half-Life 3 was announced.
As for the actual Half-Life 3, we last heard that series writer Mark Laidlaw departed Valve in January, and suspicious Half-Life-related code was discovered in Dota 2 previous year.

On the bright side, the two gaming outlets that ran the ad will be on hand at this year’s GamesCom, so it will be possible to see something tangible out of the experience.
