Was Olympic swimmer Joseph Schooling raised by a Filipina nanny?
Schooling will now be able to return to the University of Texas, where he’ll begin his junior season in the NCAA with Head Coach Eddie Reese and the defending national champion Texas Longhorns.

Now he’s an Olympic gold medallist – what would you do?
“Joseph’s motto is “dare to dream” and I think he’s done a good job …”
“I worked hard for it, it’s [been] a tough road”, he said.
The 21-year-old Olympian is seen hugging his father, Colin Schooling, after landing in Singapore.
On defending his Olympic title, Schooling said: “If I had to pick, I’d rather be on top and hold the fort down”. “Now we have to aim for the world record”.
Joseph Schooling at home on Aug 15, 2016. Phelps was in Singapore preparing for the Beijing Olympics and was training at one of the pools where Schooling also practiced. Check out how the world’s leading airport congratulated the world’s leading swimmer. She never doubted Schooling’s talent.
The appeal was granted since Schooling has fulfilled the necessary condition for deferment, in his case, winning the gold medal for Olympics. A group of wealthy Americans who formerly competed as wrestlers have banded together and put up a pot that will be given incentives to United States athletes should they win a gold in the Olympics.
Third-generation Singaporean Schooling’s mixed European and Asian heritage has resonated strongly in the immigrant society of 5.5 million people, which had to rely on naturalized athletes for years to win medals at global events until Schooling emerged.

Businesses are also joining in on the celebratory mood, offering discounts and freebies to customers in conjunction with Schooling’s victory. “An all-around race for me”, added Schooling, sporting a new tattoo of the Olympic circles on his right biceps. This marks the first gold medal for Singapore at this year’s Olympic Games, as well as the first gold medal in the country’s Olympic history (in the past, Singapore has won two silver and two bronze medals, for a total of five Olympic medals).
