“I’m so proud at what I achieved”, she said.

James is up against Elis Ligtlee of the Netherlands, who beat her to gold in the kierin, while Marchant faces twice world champion Kristina Voegel of Germany. “I always thought how special London was”.
The 24-year-old convincingly won in the sixth and final omnium event on Tuesday night with a final tally of 230 points – clinching another gold just days after winning the women’s team pursuit in the same velodrome.
Speaking to the BBC after winning GB’s 18th gold in Rio, an understandably emotional Trott said: “I can’t believe it”. But Hammer won the final sprint to earn her second-straight omnium silver medal.
Sarah Hammer of the United States was second on 206 points and Belgium’s Jolien d’Hoore third on 199.
“Jolien is an awesome racer”.
The performance leaves the British cyclist in top spot and with a 26-point cushion heading into the final event of the omnium – the brilliantly chaotic points race. “I knew that it was going to be a big ask to try to match her in the sprints”.
Trott and Hammer both won two medals in Rio, with Trott being part of the team that took gold in the team pursuit and Hammer taking silver in that event.
After a long delay, the decision was taken to restart the race with all six riders still in, however. The speed that she ultimately carried into the finish line sent the saddle clattering across the track, forcing Vogel to sit on her top tube as she rolled around for a victory lap.
Trott couldn’t help but get teary-eyed when she walked onto the front stretch later to welcome her soon-to-be husband.
There was a tense end to the track cycling meeting when Kenny was among the riders to be in danger of being disqualified, but after uncertainty they were given the all clear.
Again all six remained in the race, however, and the race started for a third time – Kenny sitting third wheel as he had done on the previous two occasions.
Once the race finally began, Kenny slotted in behind Joachim Eilers and Damian Zielinski entering the final lap.

Giles Scott has won gold in sailing’s Finn class, becoming Britain’s 17th gold medal victor at the Rio Olympics. “Ultimately the race would have looked very similar either way”.
