Minor change made to charges against mom in drowning deaths
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday that Sheborah Thomas has been charged with two counts of capital murder under 10 years of age for the deaths of her 5-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son.

A man helping a Houston neighbor move asked why her children weren’t around and was told she drowned them and stashed their bodies under a nearby home, according to authorities.
When the man asked about her kids, she calmly said she had killed them, said Houston police spokesman Kese Smith.
When she gave him the same story a second time, Smith says the man drove to a local police station and reported what he had been told.
“She would just take her kids to the park; that’s all everyone saw of them”, neighbor Mike Polk told the newspaper.
Thomas is being held without bond. In 2012, child welfare officials temporarily took the woman’s two children away from her. She told police that she at first wrapped the bodies in bed sheets and placed them in a trash can. “The Peaches I know. would do anything for her kids”.
According to the Houston Chronicle, it had only been a few months since the family moved in.
Thomas has no history of mental illness. They are good kids.
The mother also said she tried burying her children in the backyard, but she failed and hid their bodies under a neighbor’s home instead. “Sooner or later her day is going to come and I pray to God that she suffers like she did her kids; made her kids suffer, I hope she suffers worse.” the woman said.
“We told the bus driver, ‘We’ll see you Monday, ‘” she said.
Ivey is a mom of four who says Thomas would often talk to her about the pressures of taking care of her kids. She told the man that she had drowned her children. She goes to the store.to me she was like, a real nice person.
Thomas also has a 12-year-old son, but he was not home at the time of the incident, the spokeswoman said. That was after investigators say she had done the unthinkable: drowning her son Oralynn, 7, and daughter Kayana, 5, in a bathtub.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Thomas has some minor criminal offenses.
She had gotten fired from her job there two weeks earlier. Investigators are still trying to determine what possible motive the mother had for drowning her two children. “I know that’s what she do and I guess she tripped out in her mind”, said Ivey. The Department of Child Safety is conducting an independent and comprehensive review of the family, she said.
In court filings, CPS officials said Thomas, who had a history of drug use, and her children had been homeless at the time and were staying at a shelter.
