“Everyone is doing it and Hull City are a little bit behind in bringing new players”.

“Claudio’s qualities, both as a man and as a coach, have been very clear since the moment he arrived – qualities that have helped Leicester City to progress on every level”, club vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said on Wednesday in a statement.

“The first games are always hard”.

“A lot of the time it was fingers crossed to make sure that we had enough players to get out onto this field today”, Phelan said.

Phelan, who has been handed the task of leading Hull into a new Premier League season, won his opening game against Leicester City despite having seen the squad decimated by injuries. We didn’t do the hard work of 46 games of a Championship season to throw it away.

Leicester went behind in first-half stoppage time at the KCOM Stadium when Kasper Schmeichel parried Curtis Davies’s header and Diomande and Abel Hernandez launched themselves at the loose ball. It was hard to tell who actually made the contact that sent the ball into the net.

Riyad Mahrez answered from the order spot toward the begin of the second half after Demarai Faint had been fouled.

“I thought the players had it in them to produce something”, Hull’s caretaker manager Mike Phelan told Sky Sports.

His team certainly got off to a flawless start, with Raheem Sterling winning a penalty that was converted by Sergio Aguero after only four minutes.

Jack Rodwell slipped a pass through the heart of the City defence to Defoe, who slotted past Caballero.

On Sunday, Manchester United plays at Bournemouth and Arsenal hosts Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Erik Lamela equalised to earn Tottenham – last season’s third-place team – a 1-1 draw at Everton. Kyle Walker sent a picture ideal cross into the box, and Lamela charged to meet it, putting a glancing touch on it with his head and sending far-post past Maarten Steklenburg. “That’s something we have to get used to”, said Simpson.

City dominated possession but were short on the incisive attacking play that was a hallmark of Guardiola’s Barcelona and Bayern Munich teams. This is the key of the match.

Leroy Fer scored Swansea’s late victor against Burnley and a header from West Brom’s Salomon Rondon gave the visitors their victory at Crystal Palace. But Negredo needed only 11 minutes to open his Middlesbrough account following his loan switch to the Riverside.
