The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/2bwsMo7) reports that the security staff will search all bags, coolers and other items at all 11 entrances.

Fair officials will reveal specifics behind the latest security moves during an on-site news conference early Tuesday afternoon.

The fair says it undertook a major expansion of its security systems in 2002 and since then has made annual adjustments to it.

The fair is also making changes in security staffing levels, vehicle access, traffic management and video.

An additional 100 security officers have been added to the 300 that have been patrolling the grounds in years past.

“The State Fair’s security plan is developed in conjunction with local, state and federal public safety agencies”, the fair said in a statement.
