Modi tells India of Pak ‘atrocities’

New Delhi-A day after Pakistan said it wanted an exclusive dialogue with India on Kashmir, India responded saying it was ready for talks – but only on “relevant issues” that include cross-border terrorism and follow-up on the terror attacks in Mumbai and Pathankot.

To a poser about about Chief Justice of India T S Thakur expressing his disappointment yesterday on Modi making no mention about appointment of judges in his Independence Day address, the BJP leader said patience was needed on the matter as the “bouquet is being prepared to be offered” to the judiciary.

Prime Minister Modi, in his speech, said, “People of Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) have thanked him a lot in the past few days and he is grateful to them”.

Indian troops killed a total of seven separatists on Monday in two incidents, five of them gunmen who had attempted a cross-border incursion and two more, who had attacked a Srinagar police station.

The Prime Minister asked the global community to judge the behaviour of India and Pakistan in the context of terror attacks in each others country.

Terrorism can not be contained, but needs to be countered effectively, he said.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have been running high since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani sparked anti-government protests in India-held Kashmir, with over 70 people dead in clashes between protesters and Indian authorities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not the first to raise concern over the situation in Balochistan, Congress said, insisting that the party-led UPA government had consistently spoken about the “spiralling violence” and “heavy Pakistani military action”.

“The Baloch mission and all the oppressed people of the world, still remember the decision of the Indian government when India intervened and came to the rescue of Bengali people from Pakistani brutalities in 1970s”, he said. So, does it mean that the Prime Minister is willing to sacrifice Kashmir for Balochistan’s freedom?

“What kind of life is this, inspired by terrorism?” Since July 9 Jammu and Kashmir, the only Muslim-majority state in India, has been experiencing a wave of violence that forced government to close schools, businesses and official agencies, including postal offices and banks, and paralyze transport.

“The world will know about it and that’s sufficient for me”.

He strongly backed the fight against inflation, endorsing a 4 percent target, within a range of 2 percentage points either way, agreed with Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan.

Brahumdagh Bugti of Balochistan Republican Party, quoted by ANI, said that he thanks “Prime Minister Narendra Modi sahab on behalf of the whole Baloch nation”.
