Aybar traded from Braves to Tigers for minor league catcher
Aybar has made appearances at six different positions in his career, but the overwhelming majority of his time has been spent at shortstop. This was his first season with Atlanta after spending 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Angels.

Scivicque, 23, is in his second professional season and has appeared in 105 games this season for Lakeland of the Florida State League. The 32-year-old Aybar hit.242 with 27 runs and 26 RBI in 97 games for the Braves this season.
In contrast, Simmons, the big piece the Braves sent over, has an 84 OPS+ this season. Before acquiring Scivicque, the Braves had no significant catching prospects in their minor league system.
According to an official statement released by the club on Tuesday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers have acquired veteran infielder Erick Aybar from the Atlanta Braves.
He represents an upgrade over Aviles, 35, who hit.210 with one home run and six RBI in 68 games this season for the Tigers. Manager Brad Ausmus liked to use Aviles because of his defensive versatility, but his struggles at the plate hardly justified the decision.

The Tigers, 2 1/2 games out of the final wild card spot in the American League, are without starting third baseman Nick Castellanos (hand) and shortstop Jose Iglesai (hamstring), both of whom are on the 15-day disabled list.
