All clear given at JFK Airport after ‘shooting panic’
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt made plenty of noise on the track this weekend at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, but his biggest impact may have been felt thousands of miles away in Queens, New York.

The airport starting resuming normal operations several hours after the initial reports of gunshots.
Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from the John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York, Sunday, after reports that two shots were fired inside the terminal building.
In the end, police reviewed security videos and searched the terminals but found no evidence any shots had been fired.
It was about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when police started receiving calls about possible shots fired at JFK’s Terminal 8. However, Port Authority police are evacuating the terminal at this time to be cautious, Pentangelo said. “[We were] required to have our hands in the air, cops with guns in their hands everywhere”, said University of Chicago professor Bruce Cumings who was sitting and reading in Terminal 1 while awaiting his flight.
A source told PIX11 News Monday it’s still not clear what exactly caused travelers to think gunfire had gone off, first in Terminal 8 then in Terminal 1.
The video shows a group of police officers walking through the terminal with long guns, yelling for people to get down on the floor.
Witnesses reported hearing two shots in the terminal but no police officers reported any suspicious activity. By 11:55 p.m., Special Ops had tweeted that “It appears that no shots have been fired”.
