Heard provided the court with a photo of bruises on her face as evidence, but Depp denied he had abused her and police said evidence indicating violence was unfounded. “There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm”.
In a statement by the former couple obtained by BuzzFeed News Tuesday, Heard and Depp described their relationship as, “intensely passionate and at times volatile, but was always bound by love”.
She filed for divorce a few days prior, the week his latest film, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” hit theaters – and tanked at the box office, possibly due in part to the negative publicity ignited by his unraveling domestic life.
The statement says Heard will be donating proceeds from the divorce settlement to an undisclosed charity.
Heard also states in the filing that she never had a sexual relationship with Thornton, and claims that Depp frequently accused her of sleeping with other men during their relationship.
