Clinton releases tax return, Trump refuses
Clinton will release her latest 2015 tax return, meaning she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, will have released every year of their returns since 1977.

Clinton, who filed jointly with her husband, paid an effective federal income tax rate of 34.2% a year ago, and the Clintons donated 9.8% of their adjusted gross income to charity, according to the campaign.
Mrs Hillary Clinton sternly warned her Republican presidential rival Donald Trump about his “casual inciting” of violence, saying his startling remarks suggesting gun rights supporters could act against her “crossed the line”. Clinton’s tax filings show that she and Bill Clinton donated just over $1 million to charity previous year, the bulk of which went to the Clinton Foundation.
Clinton’s campaign also released a list of 41 speeches that she delivered in 2013, with speaking fees ranging from 225,000 dollars to 400,000 dollars. The couple paid a federal tax rate of 34.2 percent in 2015, which climbed to 43.2 percent if you factor in what they paid in state and local taxes.
Meanwhile, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has still not released his tax return.
Trump has repeatedly rebuffed calls to release his most recent tax returns because they are under federal audit.
It should be a rich seam for Trump and his devotees to exploit, and they may well keep trying to do so.
Tax lawyers say there is nothing to stop a person making their return public while it is before the IRS; it does not prejudice the outcome of the audit process. And on Friday, her vice presidential pick, Tim Kaine, followed suit, and released his tax returns for the last decade.
The tax release is part of an effort to undercut Trump’s character by questioning the NY businessman’s record.
Clinton and her running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, released their tax returns on Thursday in an effort to pressure the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, into doing the same.

The Clintons had a total income in 2015 of about $10.7 million. They made a total of $140,937,785 over those years, according to ABC News’ calculations. In late July, he invited Russian Federation to dig up tens of thousands of “missing” emails from Clinton’s time as US secretary of state, which raised concerns among intelligence experts that he was urging a foreign government to spy on Americans. Clinton has released a lengthy list of returns, back to her time as First Lady. Speaking fees continued to make up two-thirds of the Clintons’ income, but dropped to $6.7 million from nearly $20 million in the year prior.
