World’s friendliest cities, according to Conde Nast Traveler
The latest list was compiled based on Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Survey, taken by 128,000 readers in 2015, according to the magazine. Charleston in SC.

When asked why he was voting for Galway one reader shouted that the “THESE ARE THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET”. “The city is so lovely and easy to get around on foot”.
“Europeans are heading to Charleston because they’ve heard about the food and the architecture”, Conde Nast deputy digital editor Laura Redman told CNN.
Dublin and Galway have been named among the world’s 10 friendliest cities by readers of Condé Nast Traveler. Charleston has also gained a reputation as an worldwide food destination. “It’s getting great press, and it’s having a moment”.
Galway was ranked the sixth friendliest city, with the local people rivalling the landscape…
On the other end of the scale, Conde Nast did rank its unfriendliest cities as well, with Newark, New Jersey topping that list.
SC city Charleston was ranked as the world’s friendliest city, beating Sydney into second place, while Irish cities Dublin and Galway were named third and sixth respectively.
“I am delighted to see two of our cities appear once again in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler survey of friendly cities around the globe”, said Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland.
Cities that are easily navigable and offer guests the chance to feel like a local also feel friendly to visitors, she says.

Charleston, Savannah and Nashville, all southern United States cities, stand out as spots where locals are quick to offer directions and other assistance – and where the locals talk to each other.
