She held on for a bronze medal behind Maria Paseka of Russian Federation.

Raisman was one of five gymnasts selected to Team USA, and she was named captain due to her combination of success at the elite level and experience in major competitions. She just earned her third gold medal, this time in the vault, and I think we’re all scraping the bottom of the barrel for ways to describe her total dominance.
Biles stayed in the hunt for a record five gold medals by a female gymnast at one Olympic Games. Her score of 16.033 for her “Cheng” was the best of the night.
Biles posted the highest score during qualifying when she put up a 15.633.
It is the first World or Olympic gold on vault for the 19-year-old. She has finals on the balance beam on Monday and in the floor exercise on Tuesday. She by far pulled off the most technically hard vaults of everyone else in the event, and her two routines were absolutely flawless. Maria Paseka of Russian Federation won the silver medal, and Giulia Steingruber of Switzerland won the bronze.
Great Britain won its first ever gold in men’s gymnastics to open the morning, as Max Whitlock scored a 15.633 to take home the floor exercise title. What lifts Biles is simple-her impeccable technical execution.
“Oh, yes, I did”, Biles said, finally beginning to grasp what she’s accomplished at the Rio Games. For instance, while Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber started strong with a 15.333, she scored a 14.900 on her second attempt, dropping her final score to 15.216. It is the first time an American woman has won gold on the event.
The U.S. women’s Olympics gymnastics team said their historic win in the team all-around competition at the 2016 Rio Olympic games wasn’t a surprise. On floor I can’t envision a scenario where she wouldn’t come out on top.
HISTORY MAKERS: Oksana Chusovitina has no plans to make her seventh Olympics her last. The 23-year-old edged Brazil’s Diego Hypolito in the men’s floor exercise then beat teammate and friendly rival Louis Smith on pommel horse a short time later. The 41-year-old plans to keep training through Tokyo 2020 following a seventh-place finish on vault.

Dipa Karmakar of India just missed out on bronze in vault, remarkable considering she’s the first Indian woman to compete in the Olympics.
