Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is leading Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by just 6 percentage points in deep-red Texas, according to a new poll. She has stronger support from her party – 92 percent of self-identified Democrats choose Clinton while Florida Republicans are less excited about their party’s nominee.

While polls have shown Clinton building a lead following the Philadelphia convention, Democrats are fearful that a depressed voter turnout might diminish support among the minority, young and female voters who powered Obama to two victories. However, there’s a notable gender split: Trump has a 40-point advantage among white men in Florida (64%-24%) while Clinton had a 10-point lead with white women (49%-39%).
Trump had a significant lead with white voters in Florida, 51%-37%.
As for the state’s senate race, GOP incumbent Sen.
Tuesday morning, Fox News noted that “Hillary Clinton tops Donald Trump in the latest national polls”, before suggesting that “but if you ask voters anonymously who they like, the results are a lot different”.
Even as polls show Clinton in the lead, the former secretary of state has faced lingering questions about her trustworthiness in the fallout of her use of a private email server as secretary of state and over her family’s sprawling foundation. He leads Democratic Rep. Patrick Murphy 48 percent to 43 percent and leads Rep. Alan Grayson 50 percent to 39 percent.
Meanwhile, in Virginia, Clinton continues to maintain a double-digit lead over Trump.

The Aug. 11-15 polls surveyed a sample of 1,132 and 1,131 likely voters, respectively, and had a credibility interval of 3 percentage points. The firm surveyed 944 likely voters in Texas from August 12-14, using a mix of phone and Internet interviews.
