Today, Ryan Murphy added another extremely accomplished name to the list in Catherine Zeta-Jones. American Horror Story has always felt like a series of hilarious feuds between campily over-the-top characters performing femininity in a heightened, Hollywood fashion reflective of gay culture-appreciated cult classics like What Ever Happened and Mommy Dearest.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is the latest starry addition to Ryan Murphy’s new anthology series, Feud.
The Oscar victor has joined Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX anthology drama Feud, Murphy revealed Tuesday on Twitter.
The man behind Glee, American Horror Story, Scream Queens and American Crime Story has announced that the 46-year-old will portray Gone With The Wind star Olivia de Havilland on the show.
The eight-episode series is set to air in 2017, and will also feature Alfred Molina (as director Robert Aldrich), Judy Davis (as famed gossip columnist Hedda Hopper), and Stanley Tucci (as studio head Jack Warner).
Feud is based in part on the script Best Actress by Jaffe Cohen and Michael Zam, which Murphy purchased. Murphy will executive produce alongside Plan B Entertainment’s Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner.

Feud marks Zeta-Jones’ first TV role in two decades. Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for her work in Traffic, most recently co-starred in Red 2 and Side Effects.
