Trump wants intense vetting for immigrants
“It just absolutely bewilders me when I hear Donald Trump try to talk about national security”, Mrs Clinton said, pointing to USA vice president Joe Biden’s dissection of Mr Trump’s foreign policy at a Pennsylvania event on Monday. “I call it extreme, extreme vetting”, Trump said at an election rally in Ohio.

The past two GOP nominees easily won Texas by double digits. For comparison purposes, Republican Mitt Romney won the state of Texas in 2012 by 16 points over President Barack Obama.
“If the race is about Hillary Clinton, then Donald Trump wins”.
Polling on the presidential race in Texas has been scant, but the margin found by PPP is the narrowest yet. But his backing of Trump might cause a problem with independents, 28 percent of whom said backing the business mogul made them less likely to vote for Rubio.
The poll, conducted August 12-15, surveyed 402 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points. On the economy and jobs, 49 percent pick Clinton and 46 percent choose Trump. Clinton is also doing better with Democrats (88% support) than Trump is doing with Republicans (77%). Just over 1-in-3 voters (36 percent) have a favorable opinion of Clinton while 50 percent hold an unfavorable view of her.
Almost 32 percent of voters cast their ballots before Election Day in 2012, according to census data, compared with 29.7 percent in 2008 and 20 percent in 2004. He’s within the poll’s margin of error, and while both Rubio and Murphy have positive favorability ratings among Florida voters, 68 percent have no opinion of Murphy compared to 27 percent for Rubio, showing the Democratic challenger has room to increase his support. “If the race is about Donald Trump and all the side-show issues he often comments on, then it’s hard for him to win in those counties across this state and the country”, Walker said. Rubio now holds a small 48 percent to 43 percent edge over Patrick Murphy, with 3 percent saying they will support another candidate.
Chris Christie is trying to tamp down Republican concerns about Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. For instance, in 1952, Democratic nominee Adlai Stevenson had 79 percent of the non-white vote, despite losing to Dwight Eisenhower by 11 percent nationally.

A poll released by Monmouth University showed Clinton leading Trump by nine percentage points in the Sunshine State, 48-39. “It remains to be seen whether the eventual Democratic nominee can turn this to his advantage in the general election campaign”, said Murray.
