Rio Olympics 2016: Simone Biles wins fourth gold, Amy Tinkler takes bronze

Her U.S. teammate Aly Raisman won the silver medal with a routine slightly less hard than Biles’, sticking every landing on every tumbling pass.

Simone Biles put the finishing touches on one of the greatest Olympics by a gymnast, capturing her fourth gold of the games with an electric performance in the floor exercise on Tuesday.

I’m honestly finding it tough to write this post because words can not properly convey the amount of love and respect I feel for United States gymnast Simone Biles.

Next week, Raisman is expected to stop by her gym to do a signing, and Burger said she can’t wait. “I just couldn’t fall asleep”, he said. Ten million fans watched a recent interview she conducted live on a mobile app and she has been invited to appear on Chinese variety shows once back in China “The Chinese people have made progress, we don’t need gold medals to boost our confidence and are no longer as harsh on our athletes”, said one user on China’s Twitter-like Weibo.

It has been a competition to remember for Biles, who became the first gymnast from United States to win four gold medals in a single Games by winning Tuesday’s floor exercise.

Biles is now the fourth American to win five medals in one Olympics. Understandable – despite four gold medals the gymnast is still a 19-year-old meeting movie star Zac Efron. “I don’t really know what happened”, said the Texan.

Biles embraced her longtime coach shortly after her routine which includes a tumbling pass named in her honor and a Brazilian-themed segment meant to play to the crowd in Rio and beamed when her score of 15.966 was posted.

Britain’s Amy Tinkler took bronze (14.933). He was initially named an alternate to the Olympic team before filling in when John Orozco went down with an injury.

Men’s all-around silver medalist Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine took gold on parallel bars, followed by Leyva and David Belyavskiy of Russian Federation.

Defending champion Epke Zonderland suffered a nasty fall in the high bar final, enabling Fabian Hambuechen – the silver medallist four years ago – to claim gold. A bronze medalist in the all-around in London, Leyva won silver on high bar and parallel bars within 90 minutes of each other.
