The flight between the 2 buying and selling hubs will final 17 hours and 35 minutes, making Panama the airline’s first vacation spot in Central America, it stated.

The flight will cover 8,590 miles, which will outstrip the route of Qantas from Sydney, Australia to Dallas, Texas by only 10 miles.

The Emirates fleet consists of 235 aircraft, including the world’s largest fleets of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s, with another 274 planes on order.

Starting on February 1, 2016, the service from Dubai to Panama City is exciting news for those who love Central America, but it will be a stern endurance test for anyone in economy class.

Previously, the longest flight, lasting virtually 19 hours linked Singapore and New York, operated by Singapore Airlines.

“It is gratifying to see how diplomatic efforts focused on generating development and prosperity for Panama materialise”, said Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado, Vice President of the Republic of Panama.

The carrier announced on Thursday that it will add nonstop service from its Dubai hub to Panama City, Panama.

According to IATA, Latin America is home to more than 8% of the world’s population yet only accounts for 5% of all global air traffic, largely due to the lack of adequate infrastructure.

Emirates has chosen Panama as its fourth destination in Latin America.

Dubai’s location at a natural crossroads between continents means it’s able to link most cities in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia, helping Emirates to become the top global airline. Not only will that give Emirates its first destination in Central America, but it also will earn the airline the distinction of having the world’s longest passenger airline route.
