Gulen, who lives in a secluded compound in Pennsylvania, has vehemently denied that he and his supporters were behind the coup attempt.
Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has alleged Fatehullah Gulen has established a network of schools, business organization and charitable institutions in order to intervene in Govt. institutions through them and to establish a parallel structure to control the country.
It may be mentioned that after the unsuccessful military coup, more than 35000 persons were arrested and a large number of officials belonging to judiciary and education have been suspended.
Of those, 136 were detained in Monday’s raids.
The report said Turkey had become “the central hub for Islamist groups in the Middle East region as a result of the gradually Islamicised domestic and foreign policy of Ankara since 2011”, ARD reported. A spokesman for the European Commission declined to comment on the interview directly but said the EU continued to work together with Turkey in all areas of cooperation.
On Tuesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss an upcoming visit by Vice President Joe Biden, as well as Turkey’s demand that Gulen be extradited, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
The Turkish authorities had already seized Islamic lender Bank Asya.
In a separate development Monday, Kurdish rebels detonated a auto bomb at a police station in southeast Turkey, killing five police officers and two civilians, officials said.
No one was immediately available for comment at Akfa. The homes of those being detained were also being searched, it said.
Erdogan accuses Gulen of harnessing an extensive network of schools, charities and businesses, built up in Turkey and overseas over decades, to infiltrate state institutions and build a “parallel structure” that aimed to take over the country.
Germany’s leftist Linke party said the report – which came in response to its parliamentary query – required a radical shift in Germany’s approach toward Ankara.
Last month’s failed coup attempt that the Turkish government believes perpetrated by members of Fethullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO) left 240 people dead and almost 2,200 injured.
“You may like or dislike the government, you may be supporting or not supporting President Erdogan, it does not matter”.
Mr Kilic said the company sent him a text on telling him of his dismissal and citing “operational necessities” on July 24.
