Donald Trump’s remarks on national security sends wrong message: Hillary Clinton

Trump said that “law-abiding African-American citizens living in these neighborhoods” are impacted the most by a lack of law and order, adding, “There is no compassion in tolerating lawless conduct for anyone”.

Unlike his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, Trump did not address African-Americans frustrations with the racially disproportionate effects of law enforcement.

For the second time in as many days, the Republican nominee, who has drawn criticism from even within his own party for recent off-the-cuff statements and tweets, stuck largely to prepared remarks as he slammed Democrats for taking black voters for granted and supporting policies that make them unsafe and cost them jobs.

The Clinton campaign also issued a statement by her doctor.

“It just absolutely bewilders me when I hear Donald Trump try to talk about national security”, Clinton said, pointing to Vice President Joe Biden’s dissection of Trump’s foreign policy at a Pennsylvania event Monday.

The speech revived Mr. Trump’s vow to be the “law and order candidate”, which he first declared in a similar speech last month in response to the sniper ambush that killed five Dallas police officers at a Black Lives Matter demonstration over police-involved shootings of black citizens. “They only care about themselves”, he said.

“Those peddling the narrative of cops as a racist force in our society – a narrative supported with a nod by our opponent – share directly in responsibility for the unrest in Milwaukee and many other places around the country”, Trump told the crowd at a rally in West Bend, Wis.

Trump claimed that his narrative does a disservice to African-Americans, saying, “Every time we rush to judgment with false facts and narratives, whether in Ferguson or in Baltimore and foment further unrest, we do a direct disservice to poor African American residents hurt by the high crime in their community, a big, big unfair problem”. “I am going to give the people their voice back”. Trump’s schedule was in flux in the days leading up to his trip to Milwaukee – unusual for a campaign that frequently plans events days in advance.

If the release of these types of polls and the news media’s focus on his attacks against them has shown anything it is that there is reason for many Americans to believe in the media’s bias against Donald Trump.

Trump began his visit to the city with a meeting with local law enforcement officers at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center on Lake Michigan.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani also spoke ahead of Trump, offering numerous same points accusing Democrats of being responsible for issues facing those in inner cities. He said that Clinton’s policies have contributed to poverty and have put led to the deterioration of inner cities.

Trump defended the officer who shot Sylville Smith in Milwaukee on Saturday night. “Now is the time for new leadership”.
