Four killed in new Kashmir violence

Modi’s defence minister, Manohar Parrikar, raised the temperature further on Tuesday, saying Indian troops had “sent back five terrorists yesterday”.

“People of Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakistani Kashmir have thanked me a lot in past few days, I am grateful to them”, Modi said.

He said that his party along with all the democratic forces of Pakistan have condemned the outrageous remarks of Modi and asked him to allow the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir under United Nations aegis instead of dilly-dallying and prolonging the issue. “He Should never rake Kashmir and Balochistan issue together”, he added. In this regard, Pakistan should invite India for a dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir.

He told a rally, “Going to Pakistan is the same as going to hell”.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi openly came out in support of “freedom” for Balochistan and “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir”, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday equated Pakistan to hell.

She blamed the Indian leadership for the current crisis in Kashmir and appealed to protesting youths to return to their schools and colleges.

He said UN Secretary General has also expressed concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir, where Indian forces are committing state terrorism.

The rally was staged to mark India’s Independence Day as a black day in the state capital.

Locals and officials say government forces stopped hundreds of villagers from chanting slogans against Indian rule in Aripanthan village and clashes erupted as troops fired tear gas and shotgun pellets to quell the protests.
