Former Virginia offensive lineman Morgan Moses will enter the Washington Redskins’ preseason opener Thursday night in Cleveland on top of the team’s unofficial depth chart at right tackle.

Update (11:22 p.m.): Paul is officially out for the season.

Paul suffered his injury when Cleveland linebacker Craig Robertson fell on Paul’s ankle and rolled over on it at the end of a first-quarter run play where Paul was blocking. The Redskins were playing the Browns in their first preseason game tonight.

“It’s a huge loss for us, really”, Gruden said.

In addition to serving as a go-to pass-catcher, Paul also ranks among the team’s leading special teams contributors. The ankle was placed in an air cast before he left the field. Moreover, with third-stringer Logan Paulsen having suffered a toe injury that could require surgery, Washington could be forced to add another tight end in short order.

Remaining on the Washington roster at tight end are youngsters Je’Ron Hamm, Chase Dixon and rookie Devin Mahina.
