Power went down at Terminal 8 in JFK Airport on Tuesday afternoon, leaving passengers and workers scrambling.
The American Airlines Terminal 8 at Kennedy Airport is experiencing a power outage, according to Port Authority, which oversees the area’s airports.
Escalators and elevators are out of service there, and checked-bag screening may be delayed, officials say. The airline is allowing customers to change travel plans without a fee by visiting its travel alert website: aa.com/travelalertsThe outage first happened at 1:50 p.m. Power was coming back on, but then there was a surge and power was lost again. It’s encouraging travelers to arrive at least two hours before departure.
The airline says screening of checked bags might be delayed.
