No Man’s Sky Gets Day-One Patch, Has Dramatic Changes

But as it stands, the discovery that the game is apparently not a multiplayer experience in the sense that you can not meet other players has stirred up controversy for the game. But in spite of confirming that they were in each others’ line of sight (by communicating outside of the game), neither player could see the other. The game doesn’t need to be online to run, so it wouldn’t affect regular gameplay, but could potentially affect networking features without players noticing.

In a post on the No Man’s Sky blog, Hello Games founder Sean Murray has revealed a huge list of changes and updates to the game delivered by a launch day patch.

Yesterday, Reddit user TheGalacticCactus planned to meet up with Twitch streamer Psytokat on the same planet in No Man’s Sky.

Also against the idea of No Man’s Sky Neo is the fact that Hello Games is already working on its next project.

“For our game, it’s procedurally generated”.

In a 2014 interview with Game Informer, Hello Games’ Sean Murray said that “you can see other characters, and they can see you”.

No Man’s Sky will be officially released on August 9 (August 10 in the UK) for Playstation 4 while the PC version comes on August 12. “We added a “scan for other players” in the Galactic Map to try to encourage this happening”. Fortunately for those who have put time into the game so far, player data looked to remain untouched, that is, until now…

“If you play another game and if they do a remaster of that game, what they will do is up-res the textures and things like that”, explained Murray.

As to what No Man’s Sky’s online mode is now remains a mystery. He said, “No one’s tried to do procedural games since we’ve been able to do more realistic rendering and stuff like that”.
