Packers take WR Jordy Nelson off PUP list after he passes physical
The Green Bay Packers will host the Oakland Raiders Thursday night at Lambeau Field but what happens after is a rarity in the NFL. The Green Bay Packers’ star receiver has cleared his physical and come off the PUP list, according to ESPN reporter Field Yates.

Nelson missed all of last season after tearing the ACL in his right knee early in the Packers’ second preseason game against the Steelers. Packers wide outs struggled throughout the 2015 season without Nelson in action.
In a media session at the cancelled Hall of Fame game, quarterback Aaron Rodgers hinted that Nelson was nearing a return to drills. Nelson topped 1,000 yards in three of the four seasons between 2011-2014.

Rodgers was quoted as saying, “When you have a major injury to a star player like we had past year in the preseason, I think it’s only natural that there’s a little bit of a more cautious approach to the rest of that preseason and then to the next season”. The last thing Mike McCarthy and company would want to see is another injury (even a minor one) sustained in the preseason or in practice.
