Viewers loved Olympic hero Jason Kenny walking around with his supermarket bag

“What more can he do?”

Some suggested that the Brits were doing so well simply through pure skill.

“In the velodrome (on Tuesday) it felt weird”.

Speaking to the BBC following his win, Kenny said: “Today just felt like a dream really, I think I’m just kind of so exhausted I’m just floating through it”.

The British team’s prowess in the velodrome has left heads spinning. Kenny appeared to be in front of Awang and was contemplating what he would say in event of being disqualified.

The two medals won within minutes of each other sparked a media frenzy surrounding the darling couple of the Games.

“They don’t trust us”, Trott said.

Neither claims to look for trouble and controversy, but it has no difficulty finding them. “This might be the last couple of days that we actually have hold of them”.

“I showed him (the chief official) the video we had and it was way too close to make that kind of call”. She already has one gold medal under her belt when Team GB won pursuit earlier this week and she won three of the six omnium events to get her second. “But we want to compete well between these four years”.

8. A touching moment after both winning golds in one night.

Kenny and Trott were once that younger generation. Four years after that came two gold medals in Athens.

“I was a little bit anxious then, but once it was re-run I knew the second false start didn’t even matter because you could tell it wasn’t Jason who might be in trouble”. I find it much easier being with another cyclist, he understands what I’m going on about if I’m having a bad day.

Trott’s break has begun. Marchant’s family said they were “completely stunned” by her medal just three years after she took up cycling seriously.

Kenny won the Keirin on Tuesday to emulate his friend and former team-mate Hoy’s feat of winning sprint, Keirin and team sprint titles at one Olympics.

It was not without drama as he flirted with disqualification for illegally passing the motorpacing Derny bike.

At just 28, Kenny could become the most decorated British Olympian ever at the 2020 games in Tokyo. I’d have been proud of her even if she’d lost.

Kenny rode back to the athletes’ village on his own, after taking time out to speak to his parents.

“I think they dealt with the doubt well”.

“You’ve got enough to think about when you’re riding on the road here”, he added.

And we can’t wait to see the wedding pics in September.

“We’ve got a really strong team now”.

“We knew that we were timing it right for where we were at, we just didn’t know what the outcome of that would be in terms of where the rest of the world would be”.
