Rangers win 6-2 as Darvish ends long losing streak vs. A’s

Harrell had surrendered one run on four walks and three hits over the first two innings of the game. Jonathan Lucroy homered and had three RBIs as Texas swept Oakland with 6-2 win at Globe Life Park.

Darvish (4-3) had a demonstrative show of emotion, pumping his fist and letting out a shout, after striking out Coco Crisp to end the seventh inning.

Dyson struck out the side in the ninth, but also gave up three hits and a run for his fourth blown save in 31 chances. This is somewhat understandable because the Rangers have tallied up the best record in the A.L.to this point, pretty much without him.

Ross Detwiler felt his command deserting him when he allowed the hit that ended Texas’ 24-inning scoreless streak.

Right-handed reliever Liam Hendricks gave up two runs, two hits and two walks (one intentional) in two-thirds of an inning in the seventh.

Oakland left six on base.

Texas sent eight hitters to the plate in the seventh. He later scored on a sacrifice fly by Elvis Andrus.

“Tonight, they just got bigger hits than we did”, Oakland manager Bob Melvin said.

Texas got even in the sixth when Robinson Chirinos was hit by a pitch and scored on Beltre’s double.

Texas meanwhile continues to play solid baseball and have the inside track on the top spot in the American League and have their sights set on the World Series this season.

Crisp took Darvish’s second offering of the game deep to right for his 11th home run of the season.

The news on Choo, who is headed to the disabled list for the fourth time this season and might be out for the season, dampened a win that followed consecutive shutout losses at home to Detroit. The Rangers have a very well balanced roster and can beat you in a number of different ways and with Darvish on the bump in this one you can bet they will be looking for a dominating effort on the mound and rely less on their bats to get it done.

In only 198 plate appearances in 45 games, Choo has gone.247/.369/.416 with seven home runs, 17 RBIs and six steals.

Rangers: RHP Lucas Harrell went on the 15-day DL a day after facing only 12 batters and leaving his start after two innings because of a right groin strain.

Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers suffered a broken forearm during a game against the Oakland Athletics, forcing him to head to the disabled list (DL) for the fourth time this season.

Athletics: 2B Jed Lowrie will have season-ending surgery after being on the DL since August 5 with lingering left foot issues. The A’s called up INF Chad Pinder from Triple-A Nashville and transferred Jed Lowrie (bunion) to the 60-day DL.
