An extremely lifelike doll set off a false alarm in Keene, New Hampshire, prompting police to smash a vehicle window in an attempt to rescue what they thought was a baby trapped inside.

Lt. Jason Short of the Keene Police Department responded to a 911 call last month that told the authorities a baby was left in a hot auto at a shopping plaza, New York Daily News reported.
Lt. Shane Maxfield said the first officer on scene saw a baby’s legs sticking out from under a blanket in a auto seat.
Once the officer began to breathe into the baby’s mouth, he soon realized that the infant wasn’t real.
It was owned by a woman named Carolynne Seiffert, who has collected around 40 of the figures to cope with the death of her son.
Police agreed to pay for the damages to Seiffert’s vehicle.
After the incident, the woman bought a bumper sticker to put on her auto as a warning to others that her doll is not a real baby. “You can’t know how people choose to deal with their losses in life”.
But when he attempted to perform CPR, he realized something was off.
Short pulled the blanket away and saw what he thought was a dead child. Most reborn dolls cost a few hundred dollars, but this doll was valued at over $2,000.
She said the dolls were something to cuddle and care for after her son’s death; she has collected almost 40 in the past decade.
A nurse told Short it was a doll.

“It felt like a baby”, Lt. “And, and everything about it was ‘baby, ‘” Short told WMUR.
