Michael Phelps vs Ryan Lochte 200-meter IM, Finals of women’s 200M
Less than an hour after completing the 200 IM Phelps swam his semifinal heat in the 100 butterfly, qualifying for the final with a time of 51.60 seconds.

He also became the first swimmer to win the same event (200 IM) in 4 different Olympic Games.
On August 9, Phelps won his 21st gold medal in 4*200 m freestyle relay with Conor Dwyer, Townley Haas.
Reflecting on his race, the University of Texas student said: “I went for it and I didn’t look back”.
The most decorated Olympian of all-time with 26 medals made a mockery of suggestions that he would struggle to cope with teammate Ryan Lochte and Japan’s Hagino. “As a kid I wanted to do something that no one had ever done before and I’m enjoying it”.
Afterwards Tutton appeared to criticise the decision to allow 24-year-old Efimova, also silver medallist in Monday’s 100m breaststroke, to compete in Brazil. It’s more painful getting out of the pool. But it’s just as sweet standing on the podium hearing your national anthem play.
“I’m ready to retire”. “I only get to put a racing suit on two more times after tonight”.
2016 Rio Olympics – Swimming – Victory Ceremony – Men’s 200m Individual Medley Victory Ceremony – Olympic Aquatics Stadium – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – 11/08/2016. This is the first time at Rio 2016 that Phelps, who won the 100m butterfly at the past three Olympics, has been beaten.
Astonishingly, all three touched out in 51.14 seconds, behind Schooling’s Olympic record 50.39.
China’s Jinglin Shi won bronze, just six one-hundreths of a second ahead of fourth-placed Tutton.
It’s not the way anyone would have predicted Lochte’s Olympics going, but he’s been battling injuries and is at an age in which he can’t be less than 100 percent if he wants to compete with the best athletes in the world.
“Done. (South African co-silver medallist) Chad (Le Clos) asked me in the award area and the Dwyers were chanting “four more years”.

“I remember looking up to all these guys, they were my idols”, said Murphy, referring to Lenny Krayzelburg, Aaron Peirsol and Lochte, who were among the American winners at the past four Games.
