A Minnesota father is facing murder charges in the August 13 death of his four-month-old daughter after he allegedly punched the baby to quiet her.

According to The Star Tribune, Cory Morris, 21, told police that he was watching television when his daughter, Emersyn Morris, began making “baby talk”, and he carried her to the changing table in her bedroom.
He is now being held in the Hennepin County Jail under $2 million in bail.
“This poor baby, just four-months-old, died at the hands of her father, who has admitted to punching her 15 times with a closed fist and hitting her seven times in the chest”. According to WCCO, the police report details that blood was found on the floor and on the walls next to the changing table. The child was later pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center. The criminal complaint does not disclose the results of that test.
“None of us can comprehend what this is all about”, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said at a news conference Tuesday. According to a search warrant filed in the case, he called the girl’s mother to tell her that he had hit the baby while she was at work.
Cory Morris was home with the baby over the weekend, he told investigators. His girlfriend reported that Morris went from happy to mad easily, and has grabbed her or thrown things in the past. “These will need to be evaluated during the course of this case”. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
“We kept trying to help him”, Morris said.
The man’s mother told the newspaper that her son had struggled with depression for the past year but had family members had no concerns about potential violence. The baby was found dead at the scene.
“We’re hurting; all I can think about is my grandbaby, her mom and her family”, said Ginny Morris.
Family members say that although they’d always been trying to get Morris psychological help, he never showed violent tendencies, and it was typical for him to watch the baby on his own.
“She’s shocked”, Freeman said, when asked about Emersyn’s mother.
Andersen’s post on Facebook revealed, “I left her in the care of her father like normal while I was at work, he took her life”.

Last December, an 18-year-old Minneapolis man was sentenced to almost 17 years in prison for killing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old because the child wouldn’t stop crying.
