The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was easily one of the best, most-influential sitcoms of its generation from September 1990 through May 1996. Smith is not expected to appear on the “Fresh Prince” reboot, although a cameo is always a possibility. The series propelled Smith into the spotlight and launched his rap and movie star careers.

Looks like a new generation should prepare to get fresh! The reboot would then put a fresh spin on the series’ central “fish-out-of-water” type story.

The 17-year-old teenager is joined by an impressive cast that includes “Paper Towns” star Justice Smith, Shameik Moore, Skylan Brooks and Tremaine Brown Jr.

This project came as news to NBC president Robert Greenblatt, according to Mashable, when reporters brought it up Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour. The clash between Smith’s street-smart background and his relatives’ sophisticated demeanor served as the backbone of the series’ humor and progression. Additionally, Ausiello also reports that “a pitch is being finalized now and Overbrook will begin shopping it around in the coming weeks”.

Almost twenty years after the airing of the series finale, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air still continues to resonate through pop culture thanks to syndicated reruns, viral memes and memorable trademarks from the show such as the “Carlton Dance”.
