The Guardian reports that the mother went into labor about four hours into the flight and five weeks before the expected due date.

Missy Berberabe Umandal, one of those passengers, shared her account of the baby’s birth on Facebook.
We can already see the little girl all grown-up and bragging about just how destiny was by her side and gave her a lifetime worth of free air-tickets.
The pilot conducted an emergency landing in Hyderabad so the mother and newborn could receive medical attention before continuing on to Manila.
After initial first-aid at the airport, mother and child were shifted to Apollo Cradle where the newborn child is now in the incubator due to the pre-term birth.
Passenger Missy Berberabe Umandal documented the unique experience in a lengthy Facebook post Sunday.
The mother was moved to a more spacious area in the front and flight attendants found two off-duty nurses amongst the passengers to help the mother.
“The child was born on the flight”. Babies flying over the ocean, however will assume the nationality of the country from which the plane is registered, which in this instance is the Philippines. “Luckily, she only had to push ONCE”.
One passenger caught the heart-warming moment after the unnamed woman went into labour two months early.
Other passengers who were travelling with their babies gave the new mum baby clothes and other “necessities”, while flight attendants made a makeshift wash basin out of a shelf and mineral water, to clean the baby.

“Flight was delayed once again (what was supposed to be a 9-hour flight became roughly 18 hours), but no complaints. everyone in that plane was blessed”, she added. After making the unscheduled landing, the mother and child were first attended to by the airport doctor, who then directed the mother and child to Apollo Cradle hospital in the city. Her birth place and time of birth would depend on the initial location the plane touched down, which was India.
