Ranked Djokovic dispatches Sock at Rogers Cup
Top seed Novak Djokovic claimed his 50th win of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jack Sock to reach the Montreal Masters quarter-finals Thursday.

Djokovic got off to a sluggish start in the opening centre court match of the day but after breaking to go up 3-2 the 28-year-old Serb was in complete control with Sock managing just a single break chance, which he was unable to convert.
“I never played him before, so it took me some time to figure out what his patterns are”, Djokovic said. I did watch him many times before but it’s different when you’re standing on the court trying to read the rotation of the forehand because he has a very quick wrist.
The Serbian began the match emphatically, shutting out Sock within the first recreation.
Kyrgios displayed both sides of his eye-catching personality – first seemingly giving up on a point during the second set before losing another point after an overt attempt to flick the ball past Verdasco. “After that I just felt in control of the match”.
It did not get any better for the Luxembourg left-hander as he dropped his serve without winning a point at the start of the second set and then again in the fifth game to gift Murray a 4-1 lead.
Murray, the 2009 and 2010 champion of the Canadian event, will face defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Australian Bernard Tomic in the quarter-finals.
In the night session, seventh-seeded Rafael Nadal of Spain faced Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny, and fourth-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan met Belgium’s David Goffin.

France’s Jeremy Chardy downed 23rd-ranked Ivo Karlovic 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-4 and will face John Isner, who beat Nick Kyrgios.
