For all you Muggles out there who don’t spend their time in the magical world, Fantastic Beasts is a prequel to the Harry Potter series that takes place in NY during the 1920s. BBC reports that the much-awaited sequel for “Fantastic Beasts” takes viewers from the earthly world and transports them into the partly scary, partly awesome world of wizards and beasts.
He also told EW about their plans for the next film, saying: “We’ve seen the script for Part 2, for the second movie, which takes the story in a whole new direction – as you should, you don’t want to repeat yourself”.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the eighth story in the hugely popular boy-wizard series, does well in its first week of sales.
The plot of “Fantastic Beasts” and Where to Find Them centers on the years before Harry Potter’s arrival at Hogwarts.
In the United States and Canada, the book sold more than two million copies in the first two days, an “unprecedented” result for a script, according to publisher Scholastic.
Warner Bros.is betting on the power of J.K. Rowling. It appears that Fantastic Beasts will set the stage for a much darker sequel, as relations between wizards/witches and their muggle counterparts begins to dissolve, leading to the reign of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. The highly anticipated two-part play (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child) is enjoying a sell out run and the recently published script book set new records by selling more than 680,000 copies in its first three days.
Of course Potter writer J.K. Rowling will pen the script for this one too.
The first film starring Eddie Redmayne – who plays a wizard in 1920s NY – is still three months away.
