Salman Khan to gift Rs 1,01000 each to India’s Rio Olympic athletes

Mumbai: Superstar Salman Khan announced on Wednesday that he will be presenting each Indian athlete at the Rio Olympics 2016 with a cheque of Rs 101,000 as a “gesture of appreciation”.

He’s often branded as a bad guy of Bollywood and when the Indian Olympics Association chose Being Human Salman Khan to be the brand ambassador of the Indian Olympics contingent in Rio, many slammed the decision. “Each of us can also do our bit to encourage a sports nation.’ The “Sultan” star also heaped praises on non-profit foundation as it helps budding sports in becoming ‘tomorrow’s champions”.

The “Sultan” star took to his Twitter account to make the announcement, which would surely uplift the morals of the sportspersons participating in the worldwide event. The government is very supportive of sports.

Back in late April, the appointment of the Bollywood star as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Indian Olympic contingent had sparked an enormous amount of controversy. “Each of us can also do our bit to encourage a sports nation”, he posted. As a gesture of appreciation, the Sultan actor will be presenting each one with a cheque of Rs. 1,01,000.

His recent film “Sultan” was a sports-drama which saw Salman in the role of a wrestler who rises from small town origins to achieve global success. Our Indian athletes have been trying their best to win a medal for the country but haven’t been successful so far.
