Won’t Spend Money We Don’t Have – Arsene Wenger Hits Back
English clubs are creating an unsustainable future with their high levels of spending on transfers, says Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

“You have to respect the decisions of people and that’s part of it and I think in every transfer market you have one or two who have decisions to make and you have to respect them”, Wenger said.
The post I am ready to spend – Arsene Wenger appeared first on Punch Newspapers. It’s not my money. “Buying calms the fans down, but it is important to spend but even more important to spend it the right way”.
“It was important before the game [to sign a defender]. Either you give the player a normal holiday and they are not ready to start the championship, or you don’t give them a holiday and they are mentally and physically jaded”, he said.
Arsenal will face Leicester striker Jamie Vardy at the King Power Stadium on Saturday after he rejected a move to the Emirates in favour of a new deal with the Foxes But Wenger dismissed the notion that players don’t view Arsenal as a top destination. The north London based side conceded four goals at home against the Reds in a defensive display the team will want to forget in a hurry.
When asked specifically about Mustafi, Wenger said: “I believe it’s better I don’t speak about any individual player but we are working very hard”.
The Gunners have been quiet this summer, with Granit Xhaka their only major arrival so far.
Two or more clubs are in negotiations.
And Wenger has yet again bemoaned the the price of players in today’s transfer market – especially for English clubs due to the amount of money in the Premier League. It’s very hard. The clubs pay always for the fact the players play in this tournament. “They pay for 10 or 12 players who have gone somewhere else because the clubs they go to can not pay their wages”.
“But if an English club comes he is worth 35 or 40 or 50”.
Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud also sat out of the Liverpool loss after arriving back late to training following their exploits in France and Wenger has hinted he could take a gamble with them – although he suggests Koscielny is the most likely to start.
