Michael Phelps is said to have surpassed the deeds of Leonidas of Rhodes at the ancient Olympics and the American’s coach believes we will never see his likes again.

Phelps bagged his 23rd gold medal by helping the U.S. to victory in the 4x100m medley relay – the last race of the competition at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium on Saturday – reports Xinhua. “So I think that’s why I will still incorporate swimming in part of my weekly routine, just because it’s calming and soothing for me”, he said.
His teammates were initially and understandably incredulous, but not because the announcement was unexpected – they were in fact the opposite. Boomer Phelps, the newborn is the apple of his parents’ eyes and now the most adorable baby on the Internet. His words were those of an athlete bowing out at the very pinnacle of his career.
DJ and TV personality Ryan Seacrest, who is in Rio hosting Olympics coverage, tweeted, “23 golds!”
Phelps’ compatriot Ryan Murphy, who completed a personal sweep of the men’s backstroke golds with victory in the 100m and 200m events as well as the medley relay, made a bit of history of his own as he broke Aaron Peirsol’s world record in the lead-off leg of the medley relay.
Great Britain on 30 medals (10 Gold, 13 Silver, 7 Bronze), followed by Germany on 16 medals (8 Gold, 5 Silver, 3 Bronze) rounded up the third and fourth spot respectively.
The defending champion, who is trying to become the first player to win two Olympic singles golds, faces Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina in the men’s final Sunday in Rio de Janeiro.
“I said when I was 15 years old, I want to change the sport of swimming”.
Jonah Shelton, a 9-year-old swimmer, has some pretty big plans for his future. And I think that’s the difference because I knew this was the last time. He initially retired after the 2012 London Olympics, only to decide about a year later to return.
LOS ANGELES-Viewership of NBC’s Olympics coverage soared on Saturday as fans turned out for what might have been Michael Phelps’ final outing in an Olympic competition. “He’s too special”, Bowman said when asked if he was now hunting for someone to take Phelps’ mantle. “Last warm-up, last time putting on a suit, last time walking out in front of people, representing my country.it’s insane”.

“Being apart from [Boomer] for the last three weeks, four weeks from when I saw him last, he’s grown so much”. “In the left foot, there’s a footprint of him, inside of my shoe, and I put my shoe on and I looked down at it and I started to get emotional because I knew he was in the stands”.
