The 10 best cars Jeremy Clarkson has driven this year
Well, that’s the connection you get when you’re driving a Ferrari 488.

First, and foremost, here’s Jeremy Clarkson on the fourth-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata: “It’s a cure for depression, this vehicle, it really is”.
Jeremy Clarkson – former host of the BBC’s Top Gear and beloved automotive journalist – keeps a regular column in The Sunday Times where he mostly gives his take on the latest machines to come out of Detroit, Wolfsburg, Seoul, and wherever else. Well, he actually says it’s a awful auto, but he still adores it. And yet I adored it. That’s because the Alfa Romeo 4C isn’t like all those other high-tech cars out there that feel like machines, the 4C, even with all its flaws, feels human, according to Clarkson.
Ford Mustang GT: “What it is, is a muscle auto”. “It’s Merc’s Mustang. You see this when you drive it”. It might sound like a hyperbole, but he says the Focus RS feels like a Nissan GT-R, and for some, that’s as good as it gets.
“What it is, is a muscle auto”. And you sense that in the second yard. “This is a machine that wants to turn its tyres into smoke and go round every corner sideways”.
Volvo XC90 D5 AWD: “It’s so soothing, you could nod off”.
Vauxhall Zafira Tourer 1.6 CDTi: “Then I went over a bump and didn’t feel a thing”. He even says it’s the most comfortable vehicle in the world, even besting the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
BMW M2: “It’s so good that in a few bends I was actually dribbling with joy”.
Ferrari 488 GTB: “The old 458 was not as good as a McLaren 12C”.
Clarkson’s owned a Ferrari before and has talked about his love for them on length on Top Gear, but he lays some extremely high praise on the 488, saying it is his favourite auto to ever roll off the automaker’s Maranello production line.
Ferrari 488 GTB: “As a driving machine, it’s – there’s no other word – flawless”.

Lamborghini Aventador: “Given the choice of any supercar, this is the one I’d buy”. It’s true, too; dismantle the rear portion of the RS’ drivetrain and you’ll find a sophisticated arrangement of electronically-controlled wet clutches that can send up to 100% of the incoming torque to either side.
