Jordan Wilkins ruled academically ineligible for 2016 season

Ole Miss has released a statement on why junior running back Jordan Wilkins has been deemed academically ineligible for the 2016 season. Wilkins scored a 1-yard touchdown in Ole Miss’ 43-37 upset of Alabama in September. He has always been a fine running back, but I haven’t noticed much he does that Akeem Judd can’t do. “We will support Jordan to the fullest during this time and look forward to seeing him return to the field”, Ole Miss said in a statement.

Ole Miss used a committee approach at tailback last season and presumably will use the same approach this season, but Wilkins’ absence removes from the equation a guy who rushed for 379 yards and four TDs last season. “So is Akeem. I thought both of them came on at the end of a year ago and really did some nice things”.

Wilkins will be classified as a senior when he returns in 2017. Wilkins is majoring in recreation administration, according to his player bio.

Swinney missed last season after he suffered a stress fracture that required surgery. The Rebels also added true freshman D’Vaugh Pennamon in its 2016 recruiting class. Judd finished third on the team with 421 rushing yards and tied for fourth with three rushing touchdowns.
