In the immediate aftermath of the robbery, Lochte stated that he was with Conger, Bentz and Feigen when they were robbed at gunpoint by men posing as police officers as they returned to the Olympic Village from a party.

A police official told the Associated Press that the incident happened whe a group of USA swimmers stopped on their way back after a night out at a petrol station and tried to use a rest room. One of the swimmers tried to open the door of an outside bathroom.

The channel also aired CCTV images from the Petrol station, which shows the swimmers in an argument with staff at a petrol station who then appear to tell them to sit on the ground with their hands in the air. The guard was armed with a gun, but it was never drawn. The official told AP that the swimmers broke the locked door to a gas station restroom and were confronted by a security guard with a pistol.

NBC spoke with Lochte on Wednesday night and reported that he said he had left Rio and already returned home, as originally scheduled.

The U.S. Olympic Committee has said that it is cooperating with Brazilian authorities in their investigation.

As far as Feigen, Sandusky stated, “James Feigen is also communicating with local authorities and intends to make further statements regarding the incident on Thursday as well”.

The swimmers said they departed France House at about 4 a.m., while a surveillance video showed they checked back in to the athletes village at 6:56 a.m., the judge wrote.

“We got pulled over in our taxi and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge”.

The US Olympic Committee corroborated Lochte’s account. Lochte also said the assailant pointed a gun at him rather than putting it to his head.

The newspaper quoted a police source who said: “They stopped at a gas station and they were all really drunk”.

Ryan Lochte lied about getting robbed at gunpoint, according to an Associated Press report, citing a Brazilian police official.

On the night of the incident, Lochte said, they had stopped at a gas station and then got back in the taxi.

On Wednesday, Judge Keyla Blank ordered Lochte and Feigen not to leave the country and ordered their passports seized so they could be further questioned by investigators.

The attorney for American swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz says they were removed from an outbound flight in Brazil, and are being held by local authorities until they answer questions related to a recently alleged robbery of them and their teammates. They were basically taken out of the taxi and robbed.

Lauer said he asked Lochte about the skepticism that his story may have been concocted as part of a cover up.

“We’re victims in this and we’re happy that we’re safe”, Lochte said. For example, he initially said men identifying themselves as police pulled their taxi over.

Until last night, Feigen was still missing.
